The basics

What actually happens in a session?

About an hour on a live video call with a small group. There's a loose theme, like a joke prompt, roast the headline, caption contests or worst pun wins, and then it goes wherever the room takes it.

Do I have to be funny?

Nope. You just have to enjoy funny. Plenty of people mostly laugh and throw in the odd line, and that's half the fun.

Do I have to talk or be on camera?

Camera on is encouraged because it's a lot more fun when you can see people laugh. Jumping in is up to you, but the host will make sure everyone gets a chance.

Is this a comedy class or an open mic?

Neither. Nobody performs and nobody grades anyone. It's closer to a game night with funny friends.

Joining

When does it open?

Soon. Get on the founding list and you'll be the first to know, with first pick of the founding spots.

How much is it?

Founding members pay $8 CAD a month, locked in for as long as you stay. The regular price will be $12 a month.

Why is membership limited?

Because the regulars are the product. In a small group everyone gets a turn, and the inside jokes have time to build up.

Who can join?

Adults 18 and over. Humour here can be adult, so this isn't a space for under-18s.

Can I cancel?

Yes, anytime, from your account page. You keep access until the end of the month you've paid for.

Sessions

When are sessions?

Two to three times a week, one hour each, at regular times in Eastern time (ET). Exact times are being set with the founding members and will be announced soon.

What do I need?

A phone or computer with a camera and microphone, and a decent internet connection. Members get the private link to each session.

What video app do you use?

We'll announce it before the first session. Whatever we pick will work on a phone or computer.

Are sessions recorded?

No. Nothing is recorded, and recording or screenshotting is against the house rules.

What are the rules?

Anything goes on topics, but no going after people in the room. What's said in the session stays there. Read the full house rules.

Between sessions

Is there anything to do between sessions?

Yes. Members get the Brainstorm page, where you can pitch ideas for future sessions, vote on the best ones and post jokes on the board, including a prompt of the week.
